To establish, maintain and operate a Primary Health Centre in Mani Gularia village situated in the jungle area of Pilibhit district of Uttar Pradesh in India. This is a very remote rural area without proper roads or public means of transportation. The nearest modern medical facility is more than 20 Km away. The average medical statistics are significantly alarming with an high infant mortality rate (67 deaths per 1000 births), at birth (33 per 1000 births), and highest deaths under five years of age. There are no statistics available on the deaths of expectant mothers due to childbirth complications. Vivek Foundation will collaborate with the village Development Committee for the following objectives: 1. Providing free basic health and medical services to men, women and children particularly expectant mothers, infants and elderly. 2. Enhancing the quality, accountability and gender equality of health care provision in this rural and poor area. 3. Reducing child death rates by better health and nutrition education and supplements like vitamin A and Iodine. 4. Emphasising reproductive health, family planning and infectious disease control. By establishing and maintaining a Primary Health Centre in this region will improve and save numerous lives from undue sufferings of more than 10,000 in over 10 villages spread over a 20 km radius. The targeted budget for this project is $10,000 per year.
